Brandling SEND Information Report 2025-2026

At Brandling, we believe  that every child is unique and deserves to feel happy, confident and successful at school. We are proud to be an inclusive school where children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are welcomed, supported and encouraged to be the very best they can be.

We take time to get to know each child as an individual - their strengths, their interests and the things they may find difficult. When a child needs extra help, we work closely with families and other professionals to understand their needs and to put the right support in place.

We support children across the four main types of SEND:

  • Speech, language, Communication and Interaction
  • Cognition and Learning
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
  • Sensory and/or Physical Needs

Our staff use a graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do Review to make sure support is carefully tailored, regularly checked and adapted as children grow and develop. We aim to remove barriers to learning so that all children can take part in school life, feel included and make good progress.

Above all, we want every child to feel safe, listened to and valued, and to enjoy coming to school every day.

SEND Thresholds

SEND Thresholds are a graduated approach to identifying and meeting needs of children who need additional support. It is guidance for all adults who work with children identified with barriers and it creates consistency across all agencies and partners involved.

The document will provide families, young people and practitioners with a consistent graduated approach from quality first teaching to additional provision and resources. It also provides clarity over access to a range of support across all agencies.

The document focuses on the 4 areas of need from the SEND Code of Practice and Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) Outcomes.

 Restart Primary @ Brandling

At Brandling, we have an Additionally Resourced Mainstream provision (ARMs) which offers a nurturing, family-school model for children experiencing emotionally based school avoidance. The provision prioritises trust-building with families and delivers a personalised, low-stakes curriculum alongside therapeutic support. Daily communication with parents and a strong focus on relational practice underpin successful reintegration.

Referrals for the provision are made through schools, using the High Incident Needs Team (HINT).
